"The Rave" Literary Analysis

One dark December night, a poet who named Edgar Allan Poe is feeling tired and weak. He is reading old books and missing his love, Lenore. He hears someone knocking the door. When he opens the door, this it no one. He only hears a voice saying "Lenore." He called out, "Lenore?" but no one answered him. He hears the knock again, and this time when he opens the door he sees a raven sit one the head of a statue over the door. Poe asked its name, the raven says, "nevermore."

This poem has many literary elements, such as assonance, rhyme scheme, metaphor, alliteration and repetition. "Surcease of sorrow, sorrow" and "Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever darked to dream before" are examples of alliteration. an example of metaphor is "but with mien of lord or lady."
